A dreaded serial killer named Doctor Death, who used to feed victims to crocodiles, was arrested in Rajasthan after he jumped parole last year, the Delhi Police officials said on Tuesday, according to a News18 report.
The serial killer identified as Devender Sharma (67) is a convict in multiple murders. He is an ayurveda practitioner who used to dump victims' bodies into the Hazara canal in Uttar Pradesh's Kasganj after killing them. The Hazara canal has crocodiles in it, PTI reported.
The Delhi Police arrested him from an ashram in Rajasthan's Dausa, where he was living under the guise of a priest.
Convicted With Seven Life Sentences, One Death Penalty
He used to do the horrific act to erase the evidence. Sharma is convicted for life in seen murder cases across Haryana, Rajasthan, and Delhi. He has also been given the death penalty by a Gurugram court.
As per Crime Branch DCP Aditya Gautam, he is convicted of the murders of taxi and truck drivers between 2002 and 2004.
Modus Operandi
He used to lure them with trip requests. Upon trapping them, he used to kill them and throw their bodies into the Hazara canal. After that, he would sell the vehicles in the grey market.
According to the information, he has been involved in murder, kidnapping, and robbery cases, which add up to a total of 27.
Ran Kidney Transplant Racket
However, his history of crime goes back beyond that, as before becoming a serial killer, Sharma used to run an illegal kidney transplant syndicate between 1998 and 2004.
Sharma is also a repeated offender who has absconded several times on parole. The first such instance was in 2020 when he didn't show up after a 20-day parole. He was arrested seven months later.
Again in June 2023, he was granted parole for two months but disappeared after August 3, 2023.
