Durga Puja 2025: The Kolkata Police on Wednesday stated that it has not issued any directive to halt or restrict any Durga Puja celebrations. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), it pointed out that misinformation is being circulated regarding crowd management on several social media platforms. The authority stated that while the crowd circulation plans are essential to ensure public safety, no advisory has been issued to halt the celebrations. It further advised the residents to follow the official accounts for any such advisories to avoid the misinformation.
"It has been observed that misinformation is being circulated regarding crowd management measures during Durga Puja 2025," the Kolkata police stated in its post. It further stated that while circulations are essential for the congested areas to manage the crowd, they should not be taken as an effort to stop the residents from following their rituals.

"Kolkata Police would like to clarify that no directive has been issued to halt or restrict any Durga Puja celebrations. Our sole priority is to ensure public safety during the festivities. Crowd circulation plans at high-footfall pandals are essential to prevent congestion and manage potential emergency situations. These measures are preventive in nature and should not be misconstrued as interference in traditional observances or community celebrations," the post added.
The police further advised the residents to not trust the information from the unofficial sources, further asking them not to share those contents. "We request all citizens to stay informed through official channels and avoid sharing unverified or misleading content. Your cooperation is essential to ensuring a safe and smooth festive experience for everyone," it added.
Durga Puja is set to be celebrated in September, and the authorities have commenced its preparations, as a large crowd of devotees are likely to participate in the celebrations for the straight ten days.
