Durgapur Rape Case: A day after the two remaining absconding accused out of all five were arrested in the Durgapur medical student gang rape case, the survivor has described disturbing details of the horrific crime that she was subjected to.

The 23-year-old medical student shared the details of what happened to her on Friday night when she went out for dinner with her friend. The medical student, studying in a private medical college in West Bengal’s Durgapur, revealed the details of a horrific incident to the treating doctor.

The incident occurred when she and her friend were returning after dinner.

What Did Durgapur Gang Rape Survivor Tell Doctor

According to a report by India Today, claiming to have accessed the survivor’s statement, she revealed that three people came running after them. “We noticed that they were leaving their vehicle and coming towards us. We started running towards the forest. Then those three people came running after us, caught me, and dragged me into the forest," the victim was quoted as saying in the report.

Recounting chilling details, the survivors further revealed that she was asked to call her friend, adding, “When he didn’t come, they forced me to lie down. When I screamed, they said if I make noise, they will call more men and they would do it too.”

Durgapur Gang Rape Case: Police Arrested Five

As per the investigation so far, the West Bengal police have arrested five people in the case, including a former security guard of the medical college, a hospital worker, a civic body employee, and two others.

Investigators will reportedly take the arrested individual to the crime scene, a jungle patch near the college, to verify the statement of the survivor and the sequence of events.

Although the accused have been arrested following a swift action by police but the incident became a national headline and became a political flashpoint for more than one reason, including the controversial remark of West Bengal CM Mamata Benrjee, asking students not to go out at night.

Survivor's Father Slams Mamata Government

The survivor’s father lashed out at the West Bengal government, saying, “She (CM) is also a woman. How can she (Mamata Banerjee) say such an irresponsible thing? Should women quit their jobs and sit at home? It seems Bengal is under the rule of Aurangzeb. I want to take my daughter back to Odisha. Her life comes first, her career later."
