The much-awaited Dwarka Expressway is set to open for the general public by February 2024. The Gurugram stretch of India’s first elevated expressway connecting Delhi and Gurugram will be opened for traffic by the second month of 2024, District Commissioner Gurugram Nishant Kumar Yadav said. 

The official said that the Gurugram part of the expressway, which accounts for 18.9 kilometres of the 29-kilometre-long Dwarka Expressway, is almost ready and it will take some more days to open it for traffic movement. Nishant Yadav also stated that the area alongside the Dwarka Expressway will also be developed and several infrastructure projects are underway to transform Gurugram. 

Recently, Gurugram DC along with National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) officials visited the expressway and prepared a plan to open it soon. The total cost of the project is estimated to be around Rs 9,000 crore and is being constructed in four parts. The 10-kilometre stretch of Dwarka Expressway falls in Delhi and 93 per cent of the work has also been completed in Delhi so far.

Best Route To Travel Between Delhi And Gurugram

The Dwarka Expressway starts from Shiv Murti in Delhi’s Mahipalpur on NH 8 and ends at Kherki Daula Toll Plaza in Gurugram. Commuters would be able to travel from Delhi to Gurugram within half an hour after the construction of the Dwarka Expressway. 

Authorities have stated that people will be able to travel from Dwarka to Manesar in 15 minutes, from Manesar to Indira Gandhi International Airport in 20 minutes, from Dwarka to Singhu Border in 25 minutes and from Manesar to Singhu Border in 45 minutes.

Manoj Kumar, Chief Engineer in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said NHAi is currently working at some places of the Gurugram section of Dwarka Expressway. He stated that NHAI would complete its construction soon and hand it over to the administration within a month.
