As the Election Commission (EC) announced dates of the Assembly polls slated to happen in five states, Congress party chief Mallikarjun Kharge took a jibe at the ruling BJP saying to top poll body had announced the departure of the saffron party. Taking to the social media platform X(previously Twitter), Kharge wrote, “With the announcement of poll dates in five states, BJP’s departure was sounded too. In Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana and Mizoram, Congress will strongly go to the voters. Public welfare, social justice, and development are the guarantees of the Congress party".

The EC on Monday announced the schedule of elections which are going to take place in the five states-- Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana and Mizoram. The poll body said voters will exercise their franchise from November 7-30 and votes will be counted for the five States on December 3.
Barring Chhattisgarh, all the states will vote in one phase. The election in Chhattisgarh will be held in two phases, November 7 and November 17. Mizoram will vote in a single phase on November 7.
Madhya Pradesh will vote in a single phase on November 17, coinciding with the second phase of Chhattisgarh.
Rajasthan and Telangana will go to polls in a single phase on November 23 and November 30, respectively.

Nearly 16 crore voters would be eligible to cast their votes in these elections, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar said at a press conference while asserting that strong measures are being put in place to make these polls inducement-free.
