ECI New Voter ID card Update: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has launched a new digital system to deliver Voter ID cards—officially known as Electors Photo Identity Cards (EPICs)—within 15 days of application or updates in the electoral roll. This move halves the earlier delivery time of 30–45 days and is aimed at making the process faster, more transparent and convenient for voters.
The revamped process covers new registrations, address changes, and other corrections. A secure IT module has been deployed on ECINet and integrated with India Post’s Application Programming Interface (API) for smoother coordination and real-time tracking.
Voters will now receive SMS alerts at every stage—from card generation by the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) to delivery by the Department of Posts.
The Times Of India report cited senior ECI official as stating that, “Electors will now have visibility into their voter ID card's journey, reducing uncertainty and delays.”
