Following an FIR against six individuals, including the YouTuber Elvish Yadav, for their alleged role in providing snake venom to rave parties, the five arrested individuals have been sent to 14 days of judicial custody. 

Elvish Yadav is a popular YouTuber with 14.2 million subscribers and Big Boss OTT 2 winner, and has an enormous fan following among the youth.

The Surajpur court granted the police 14 days of judicial custody for all the five accused arrested in the case.

Earlier, the Uttar Pradesh police and forest department with the help of People for Animals (PFA) in a joint operation conducted raids in sector 51, Saffron Villa, Noida. The police recovered 20 to 25 ml of intoxicating poison.

The police had arrested five persons Rahul, Titunath, Jayakaran, Narayan and Ravinath from the banquet hall in the case. Five cobras, a red snake, a python and two other snakes were recovered from the party venue.

The FIR was filed by Gaurav Gupta, an Animal Welfare Association Officer and acting upon it, the police conducted raids and seized the evidence.

“An FIR was registered by Gaurav Gupta, an Animal Welfare Association Officer, that he had contacted Elvish Yadav to arrange for snakes. He (Elvish Yadav) had given the name of a person named Rahul Yadav, who was contacted... He said that the poison of a snake is being taken out and used in a rave party... The forest team and police team had gone... Five people have been arrested... Our team is working on it," Ram Badan Singh, DCP said. 

The FIR was filed under sections 9, 39,48A, 49, 50, 51 of the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972, and section 120-B of the IPC.

Following the controversy, BJP MP and the founder of People for Animals (PFA), Maneka Gandhi said, "He should be arrested immediately. This is a grade-I crime - that means seven years in jail...PFA laid a trap and caught these people. He uses endangered species of snakes in his videos. Later we got to know that he sells snake venom in Noida and Gurugram."
