- Employees can now update their PF Date of Exit online.
- This helps resolve stuck PF transfers and withdrawals easily.
- Prerequisites include active UAN and 60 days post-last contribution.
After changing jobs, employees often face difficulties transferring the balance from their old Provident Fund (PF) account to the new one or filing withdrawals. The most common reason for this is that the old company has not recorded the date of exit (Date of Exit) in the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) records. If this date is not updated, both your PF transfer and withdrawal process can be stalled.
For this, the EPFO has provided a significant convenience to employees by allowing them to update their "Date of Exit" online.
-You cannot transfer an old PF balance to new account online.
-You cannot make full-and-final settlement (withdrawal) of PF after leaving the job.
-There are also problems in calculating and withdrawing pension (EPS).

Prerequisites For Updating Exit Date Online
1. Your 12-digit Universal Account Number (UAN) must be activated.
2. Your UAN must be linked to your PF account.
3. Your mobile number linked to your account must be active, as the verification code will be sent to that number.
4. At least 60 days (2 months) must have passed since the month in which your previous employer made the last contribution to your PF account. The 'Mark Exit' option on the portal will not work before 2 months.

According to EPFO rules, once you enter your 'Date of Exit' online, you cannot change or edit it again. If you accidentally enter the wrong date, you will have to visit the EPFO office to correct it by filling out a 'Joint Declaration Form' with your former employer. Therefore, before submitting, be sure to check your last working date with your employer's relieving letter or last salary slip.
