A large explosion on late Friday night on a railway line in Punjab's Sirhind area triggered a full-fledged investigation, including a sabotage angle. The blast occurred on the Freight Corridor railway line, four kilometres from the Fatehgarh Sahib-Sarhad railway station. The incident occurred around 11 pm when a freight train was passing through the Freight Corridor railway line.
According to a report by Jagran.com, the new railway line was built specifically for freight train operations. As the train's engine approached the Khanpur gates, a massive explosion occurred. The blast completely blew away approximately 12 feet of the railway line.
The loco pilot of the goods train was injured in the blast. The injured driver was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The blast caused panic in the area, and railway officials were informed. Meanwhile, the DGP, Law and Order, stated that several teams are investigating the incident. High-grade explosive was used in the blast, which points towards a sabotage attempt. However, it's difficult to determine whether RDX was used in the blast.

Several teams have been deployed to investigate the incident. The loco pilot injured in the blast has been taken to Chandigarh, and the damaged engine has been taken to Ambala.
DIG Ropar, Dr Nanak Singh, who arrived at the scene, stated that terrorist activity cannot be ruled out. He added that forensic samples have been collected and sent for examination. Following the blast on the railway line, dog squads and bomb squads have launched an intensive search of the railway line and the surrounding area.
The DIG stated that all investigative agencies have been activated. Coordinated efforts are underway to uncover the source of the incident.
