Faridabad Murder Case: A week after the shocking murder of a 25-year-old woman, allegedly by her husband and in-laws, came to the fore, the probe by the police has unveiled some more shocking details. According to the Faridabad police, rape charges have been added in the case after they found out that the victim was allegedly raped by her father-in-law before he killed and buried her inside a pit dug outside their home in Faridabad.

According to a report by the Times of India, the accused father-in-law, 54, has also confessed to the crime and told the police that he first sedated the victim and raped her before strangulating her with a dupatta on April 21. The accused, with the help of his son (husband of the victim), then buried her in a 10-foot-deep pit to hide the crime. The accused is currently under a three-day police remand with the district crime unit.

"We have added the rape sections in the case. The father-in-law of the victim also confessed to the crime. He first sedated the victim with sleeping pills, causing her to become unconscious. He then sexually assaulted her and strangled her with a dupatta late evening on April 21," a senior police officer said, as quoted by the Times of India.

Faridabad Murder: What Police Probe Found?

The case came to light on June 19 when the father of the 25-year-old victim approached the police to initiate a murder investigation after the in-laws of the victim filed a missing complaint on April 25. The victim's husband and her in-laws allegedly told police and her family members that she had eloped. The murder remained undetected for over two months.

The police started an investigation this month and excavated the victim's decomposed body on June 19 after her father filed a complaint at the Palla police station, alleging that her in-laws had murdered and buried her. According to the police, the murder plan was finalised on April 14 and, subsequently, her mother-in-law was sent to attend a wedding in Uttar Pradesh's Etah to provide an alibi on April 15.

On April 21, her husband mixed sleeping pills into a juice served to her, and the victim soon fell unconscious. As per the accused father-in-law's confession, he entered her room late that night to kill her. However, before proceeding with the murder, the accused allegedly raped the victim. The police said that he did not disclose about the rape to his wife or son.

After murdering her, the accused, along with his son, wrapped the woman's body and buried her in a 10-ft-deep pit dug outside their home, which was prepared under the pretext of drainage repairs in advance. The pit was filled with soil and bricks overnight and was covered with a concrete slab days later. Four days after the murder, the accused filed a missing person's complaint on April 25.

Cut to June, when the family of the victim grew suspicious, they filed a complaint with the police to initiate a murder investigation. The police recovered the body on June 20, and an FIR was filed against four members of the family, including the father-in-law, the mother-in-law, the husband and the sister-in-law. The body was discovered in an advanced state of decomposition with no visible injuries.

A day later, the father-in-law was arrested by the police. Initially, he misled the police and claimed sole responsibility for the murder. He told the police that his son and wife were not at home when he murdered the victim, and his daughter was asleep. The police on June 25 arrested the mother-in-law; however, the victim's husband remains at large, and a search operation is underway to find him.

A police officer, as per a report by the Times of India, stated that the couple was considering divorce given the ongoing disputes, allegedly over dowry. The victim, a native of Shikohabad in Firozabad district, had married in Faridabad in July 2023. The victim's sister, as per a report by NDTV, has also revealed that the woman had faced continuous mistreatment after her marriage.

Just a few months into the marriage, she was forced to leave her husband’s home and live with her parents for more than a year because of the abuse. She further alleged that the in-laws were dissatisfied with the dowry and had been demanding additional cash and gifts right from the beginning of the marriage.
