Farmers' Protest: Jagjit Singh Dallewal, the Punjab farmer leader, who has been advocating for farmers' rights through a 29-day hunger strike, stated on Tuesday that they must fight together to win. Speaking to the farmers from the unique platform created for him due to his declining health, Dallewal thanked everyone who was helping him stay strong.
He said, in a weak voice, "I want to tell all of you that I am alright," while Abhimanyu Kohar, another farmer leader, assisted him.
"This battle has to be won. It will be won only if the whole country is unitedly fought for," said by Dallewal, who appealed to Punjab's "younger brother Haryana" and other states that "this battle should be strongly fought."
Dallewal (70) has been on a hunger strike at the Khanauri border since November 26 to put pressure on the Centre to meet the farmers' demands, which include a legal guarantee for the minimum support price (MSP).
In his over two-minute-long speech, he appealed that he wanted the government not to be able to evict them from here at any cost. If the government could not do so, then either victory would be achieved or they would die, He said, "one of the two things would happen." This was stated by him in his over two-minute-long speech.
Dallewal's Condition Is Critical
The farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal is at risk of cardiac arrest and multi-organ failure, according to doctors who have been keeping an eye on his health.
"He is hemodynamically unstable (unstable movement of blood that results in inadequate blood flow). Generally, such patients require admission to the ICU. He is at risk of cardiac arrest and his condition is critical," the doctor said.
After security forces halted their march to Delhi on February 13, farmers operating under the aegis of Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha have been camping at the Shambhu and Khanauri border posts between Punjab and Haryana.
Three separate attempts by a "jatha (group)" of 101 farmers to march on foot to Delhi between December 6 and December 14 were thwarted by Haryana security forces.
