Farmers Protest: Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher on Sunday announced that the farmers will a tractor march outside Punjab on December 16 (Monday). He also informed that they were also planning for a 'Rail Roko' campaign in Punjab on December 18. Pandher stated that the farmers are forced to take such steps as the government was not listening to them, and they were not even allowing for a peaceful protest.
Pandher declared the upcoming strategies of farmers after a 'Jathha' of 101 farmers was blocked by the police at the Shambhu border, citing security concerns. He further said that the 'Jathha' was no harm to the law and order as the farmers were trying to enter Delhi peacefully. The farmer leader also appealed to the Punjab people to participate in the protest.
"On December 16, a tractor march will be organised outside Punjab, and on December 18, we have called for a 'Rail Roko' in Punjab. We appeal to all Punjabis to participate in large numbers," Pandher was quoted as saying by ANI.
Pandher criticised the government for using force against the marching farmers. He said that many of the farmers got injured and are in serious condition now. "The Indian government, the fifth-largest economy in the world, used force against 101 farmers. Chemical water was thrown at us using cannons, bombs were hurled, and tear gas shells were fired. Seventeen farmers have been injured, many of whom are in serious condition, and they are not being given proper treatment in the hospital. We urge the Punjab government to ensure adequate treatment," Pandher added.

Pandher also expressed his dissatisfaction over the lack of support he was receiving from the opposition parties. He stated that the opposition leaders were not raising their issue in the parliament with proper intensity.
"The opposition should not shirk its responsibility by merely issuing statements. They should highlight our agenda and stall Parliament on our issues just as they do for other matters. Rahul Gandhi is not raising our concerns in Parliament as he assured us he would," he said.
