Wrestler-turned-politician Vinesh Phogat, now a Congress leader, on Sunday urged citizens across the country to join the farmers' protest at the Khanauri border in Haryana. Speaking at the protest, Phogat described the current scenario in the country as akin to an ‘emergency-like situation’ and emphasised the need for united action to address pressing issues.

Vinesh Phogat urged people from Punjab, Haryana, and across the country to join the protest, highlighting farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal's selfless efforts.

"He (farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal) is risking his life for others. I urge the people of Punjab, Haryana and the whole country to participate in this protest," Phogat said.

Vinesh Phogat's call for action highlights the ongoing farmer protests demanding fair crop prices and government support. Amid rising tensions, her involvement has amplified their concerns, emphasising the urgency for immediate action to improve farmers' livelihoods.

Phogat Criticises PM Modi

Congress MLA Vinesh Phogat, accompanied by her husband Sombir Rathi, expressed deep sorrow over his plight. She criticised the government for neglecting Dallewal, who, despite battling cancer and personal loss, is fighting for farmers' rights and the future.

"There is no greater sorrow than this. Dallewal, who is both a determined elder and a leader we need, has been left in such a state by the government. There is a difference between talking and implementing. Today, an elderly person is sitting there hungry, suffering from cancer, and has even lost his wife. Yet, he is fighting for our future and struggling immensely,” she told IANS.
