Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday expressed their anger and grief over the killings of seven people in Jammu and Kashmir's Gagangir in a terrorist attack. JKNC chief Farooq Abdullah condemned the act of cross-border terrorism from Pakistan and suggested the neighbouring country stop these acts if it wanted a normal relationship with New Delhi. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi also slammed the terrorists calling the incident as "cowardly" and said the country stands united against terrorism.

Six labourers and a doctor were killed in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Gagangir on Sunday. An NIA probe was ordered into the case as terrorist group ‘The Resistance Front (TRF)’, an offshoot of the Pakistan-based militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), claimed responsibility for the attack.

Reacting firmly to the incident, Farooq Abdullah claimed that Kashmir will never become Pakistan, no matter what Islamabad does. "I want to tell the leadership in Pakistan that if they want good relations with India, they need to put an end to this. Kashmir Pakistan nahi banega (Kashmir will never become Pakistan). Let us live with dignity and succeed," he said, quoted by ANI.

He further warned Pakistan of "severe" results if it didn't stop the terrorism from growing in its country. "If they couldn't create Pakistan for 75 years, how would it be possible now? ... It is time to end terrorism; otherwise, the results will be very severe... How will talks be held if they kill our innocent people?" he added.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said, "The killing of many people, including a doctor and migrant laborers, in the terrorist attack in Ganderbal, Jammu and Kashmir, is a very cowardly and unforgivable crime. I express my deepest condolences to all the bereaved families and hope for the speedy recovery of the injured."

He assured that the government will not let terrorism hinder the progress and development in the region. "The audacity of terrorists will never be able to hamper the development of Jammu and Kashmir or break the faith of the people. The whole country is united in this fight against terrorism," Rahul added.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah have pledged to take strict action against the offenders.
