Festival Special Trains: To handle the surge in passenger traffic during the festive season of Dussehra, Diwali, and Chhath, Indian Railways has announced the rollout of more than 100 special trains across the country. These extra services are aimed at easing the travel rush and will be operated by various railway zones including North Central, Northern, East Central, West Central, North Eastern, East Coast, Eastern, and Western Railways.

To ensure smooth operations and safety during the festive rush, enhanced security measures are being put in place. Major stations like Prayagraj, Cheoki, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Lucknow, and Chhapra will see increased deployment of security personnel. Crowd-control arrangements such as expanded waiting areas and improved passenger flow management will also be implemented.

Regular Trains Fully Booked, Waiting List Soars Past 150

Trains on routes like Delhi, Mumbai, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Jammu, Jaipur, Patna, Kolkata, and Guwahati are already fully booked. Reservations in regular trains had been made well in advance. The waiting list in major trains has reached up to 150–170, which has prompted the above-mentioned railway zones to operate special trains.

Timetable for Special Trains Coming Soon

The Indian Railways will soon release a detailed schedule for these special trains. Preparations are already in the final stages. Apart from long-distance services, several circular and short-distance trains will also be run to serve local passengers. Cities like Prayagraj, Kanpur, Lucknow, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, and Varanasi will see improved rail connectivity during the festival window.

Some Festival Trains Already Running Through Prayagraj

Some of these special trains have already been launched. One such example is the Kamakhya–Rohtak–Kamakhya Special, which passes through stations like Chhapra, Ballia, Ghazipur City, Prayagraj Rambagh, and Prayagraj Junction. This train will run every Friday from Kamakhya between September 26 and November 7, and from Rohtak between September 28 and November 9, with a total of seven round trips.

New Amrit Bharat Express (Muzaffarpur-Charlapalli) to Halt at Cheoki

In a boost to regional connectivity, the new Amrit Bharat Express, operating between Muzaffarpur and Charlapalli, will now make a scheduled halt at Cheoki station in Prayagraj. The service begins Monday and includes 11 General coaches, 8 Sleeper coaches, a Pantry car, and 2 coaches for differently-abled passengers.
