A Delhi-based documentary maker was killed in a road accident near Panchsheel Enclave after his bike collided with another bike, police said on Wednesday.

The incident occurred on Saturday night (October 28) at around 9.30 PM. According to police, the deceased was identified as Piyush Pal, who was rushed to a nearby hospital. However, he died during the treatment.

The Hauz Khas police station received a call about the incident at around 10.11 PM. When police arrived, they discovered the two motorcycle riders, Pal and Bunty (26), had been taken to different hospitals, according to a senior police officer.

A nearby CCTV camera captured the accident, in which Pal's motorcycle collided with a bike driven by Bunty, a driver in Gurugram.

The officer said, "On the statement of Bunty and analysis of CCTV footage, an FIR was registered against the offending bike rider. But on Tuesday, around 6 pm, we got information about Pal's death."

Meanwhile, Pal's friend Sunny Bose claimed that Bunty's motorcycle rear-ended the victim's bike. Pal's phone and Go-Pro camera were also stolen. Speaking to news agency PTI, Bose said, "His mobile phone was ringing till 10 pm, but later it was showing off. A Go-Pro camera which he used to record video for his work purpose is also missing. We are not looking for any compensation from anyone, we only want justice."

“He was wearing an expensive helmet. He was the one who was lying in a pool of blood for more than 20 minutes. No one had come forward to help him. People gathered there just to click pictures and record videos, it was when a bike taxi aggregator along with three other men picked him up and rushed him to a nearby hospital," he said.

According to the senior police officer, another FIR has been filed against Bunty under sections 279 (rash driving) and 337 (causing harm by an act endangering human life, etc.) of the IPC.
