At least five media vehicles heading to Haridwar to cover Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s two-day visit to Uttarakhand met with an accident on Sunday morning. No injuries were reported, and the accident took place at around 10 am, a few kilometers away from Haridwar, officials said.
According to reports, one of the vehicles in the convoy suddenly braked, causing a chain collision involving five media vehicles following the motorcade.
However, the Chief Minister’s Office denied these claims, stating that the vehicle responsible for the abrupt stop was not part of the official convoy.
Delhi CM Rekha Gupta In Haridwar
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, along with her family, left her Shalimar Bagh home for a two-day visit to Haridwar in Uttarakhand to mark 100 days of being in office. On Sunday, she visited the holy site of Har Ki Pauri and took a dip in the Ganga river as part of the spiritual trip.
After taking a holy dip in the Ganga at Har Ki Pauri, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta said, "Taking blessings from Maa Ganga, we will work to make Maa Yamuna clean and beautiful. We will work to speed up the development of Delhi. Taking the blessings of Maa, I feel very satisfied that as the Chief Minister of Delhi, I will be able to do better work for Delhi."
Meanwhile, in Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta performed the Yamuna Aarti at Vasudev Ghat on Saturday to mark 100 days of the BJP government in the capital. She was seen offering prayers at the ghat alongside other party members.
Addressing the gathering, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta said, "The Delhi government and the city's residents have taken the decision to clean the River Yamuna. Social workers also will be part of this."
Taking a swipe at the previous AAP government, Rekha Gupta said, "The previous governments used to lie about Yamuna cleaning. They did not take a single step towards Yamuna cleaning..."
Earlier in the day, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta took part in the ‘100 Din Seva Ke’ program, where she strongly criticised her predecessor. She said that those who once claimed to be common people became consumed by their hunger for power. Reflecting on the movement that began at Ramlila Maidan, Gupta recalled how thousands, including herself, had joined it with hopes of positive change for Delhi and the country.
“Those who said they weren’t after power became so greedy they couldn’t see anything beyond it,” she said. Gupta added that unlike the previous government, her cabinet, MLAs, and public representatives are actively working on the ground among the people. She also took a sharp dig at the former AAP government for questioning the bravery of the Armed Forces.
