Delhi Metro: Passengers with special needs, including the elderly, disabled (Divyangjan), pregnant women and injured individuals, will now receive priority at Delhi Metro stations during security checks. This move is aimed at making travel smoother and more convenient for those who face physical challenges while commuting.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), in collaboration with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), has rolled out this facility across all metro stations in the National Capital Region (NCR). The focus is to assist those who find it difficult to stand for long periods, especially during peak travel hours.

Delhi Metro: Priority frisking will be provided to the following categories

-Passengers using wheelchairs

-Visually impaired individuals

-Pregnant women

-Elderly commuters

-Injured passengers

-Women with small children in their arms

The security scanners at frisking points are being upgraded to mark these categories, allowing CISF personnel to identify them quickly and carry out security checks on priority. This will save them from standing in long queues.

Although all stations already have separate frisking arrangements for women, busy stations like Sarojini Nagar often witness long lines. Pregnant women and mothers carrying infants frequently face inconvenience at such points. With this change, they will be attended to first.

Earlier, there was no special provision for elderly or differently-abled male passengers, who had to wait in general queues. That will now change as CISF staff will be instructed to assist them without delay.

The Delhi Metro currently operates a 393-km long network with 289 stations across the NCR. This passenger-friendly initiative aims to make metro travel safer, faster, and more accessible for vulnerable groups.
