The country has been transformed in the last ten years under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi. We are influenced by the work being done by PM Modi to make India number one. I will work towards nation-building as much as possible," Tanwar said after joining the saffron party.
"We will work as a team with CM Manohar Lal Khattar, (Haryana) state President Nayab Singh Saini to ensure in 2024 that we win 400 Lok Sabha seats," he said.
Welcoming Tanwar into the BJP, the Haryana CM said, "Big day of expansion of BJP Haryana as the former Congress state chief and a former leader of AAP-- Ashok Tanwar has joined the BJP with his supporters". "He is my nephew as his mother and I belong to the same village," he further said.
In his resignation letter to AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal, Tanwar wrote, "In view of the current political scenario and your alignment with the Indian National Congress, my ethics won't allow me to continue as Chairman, Election Campaign Committee, Aam Aadmi Party Haryana.”
His resignation from the AAP came after National Joint Secretary Nirmal Singh and his daughter resigned from the party in December. Tanwar, who served as Haryana Congress chief, resigned from the party in 2019. He had switched to the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in 2021, following which he reportedly joined the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in April 2022.
