Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s ashes were immersed at the Yamuna Ghat near the Gurdwara Majnu Ka Tila Sahib in Delhi on Sunday. His last rites were performed at the Nigam Bodh Ghat in New Delhi, with full state honours on December 28. He passed away at the age of 92 on December 26 after being admitted to AIIMS Delhi after a “sudden loss of consciousness" at home. The hospital statement attributed his death to “age-related medical conditions".

Manmohan Singh, often regarded as the architect of India’s economic liberalisation, was known for his calm and measured approach to governance.

Several prominent personalities, including President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge were present while the last rites were performed yesterday at Nigam Bodh Ghat.

Apart from this, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also attended the ceremony and paid her respects to the former prime minister. King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck also took part in the last rites of Manmohan Singh. During the last rites, Singh was donned with his famous blue turban. Apart from the politicians, several of the top officers also attended the farewell of the 13th prime minister of this country who transformed the lives of millions with his schemes.

The state funeral was a sombre occasion marked by emotional tributes. His family, friends, and supporters mourned the loss of a leader who was known for his integrity, humility, and dedication to the nation.
