The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) busted a pan-India darknet drug racket functioning under the name of "Team Kalki." The team seized large quantities of synthetic narcotics, which included LSD, MDMA, and liquid MDMA.

The investigating team said the network dispatched around 1000 consignments across India since January 2024. Several parcels were intercepted from Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Kerala, and Karnataka as well.

Upon conducting the operation, the authorities seized 2,338 LSD blotters, 160 MDMA (ecstasy) pills weighing 77.517 grams, 73.612 grams of charas, 3.642 grams of amphetamine, and 3.6 kilograms of liquid MDMA. The team recovered 13 domestically intercepted parcels and 2 parcels from the Netherlands, connected to the racket.

The intelligence team busted the racket after conducting an investigation for nearly 3 months. The racket has been active on darknet platforms and encrypted messaging platforms since January 2025. Distribution inside India relied on Speed Post and private courier services. In parts of Delhi, the network used dead drops - leaving parcels at pre-arranged locations and sending buyers the coordinates, rather than handing anything over directly.

The account "Team Kalki" was run by Anurag Thakur and Vikas Rathi. The two are repeat offenders and have been arrested earlier under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

Rathi previously faced incarceration for a charas-related case in Tihar jail, while Thakur was jailed in a methamphetamine trafficking case.  According to the investigation team, their           partnership was formed inside the jail.

The two accused initially operated a darknet forum named Dread, where the vendor maintained a 4-star rating, indicating successful execution of the orders. It also operated through Session, an encrypted messaging app, to communicate with buyers without exposing identities or locations. The investigation team revealed that efforts are underway to uncover the entire cycle of the drug racket.
