Ghaziabad Fire: A massive fire broke out at a residential building on Friends Avenue in Shakti Khand 2, Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, on Wednesday night. The incident occurred in the densely populated neighbourhood adjoining Delhi. Several fire tenders were immediately rushed to the site and firefighting operations are currently underway, officials said.

Videos shared on social media showed flames rising from the upper floors of the building, with thick smoke visible from a distance. Firefighters are engaged in rescue efforts, though the extent of damage and any casualties are yet to be confirmed.

The fire in Indirapuram came on a night when Ghaziabad witnessed an unusually high number of fire incidents due to Diwali celebrations. According to Chief Fire Officer Rahul Pal, as many as 48 fire incidents, both major and minor, were reported across the district between 6 AM on Diwali morning and 6 AM on Tuesday.
The most severe case was reported from Sanjay Nagar, where three shops, Mangalam Jewellers, a puja store and Paradise Shoes, were gutted. Six two-wheelers parked outside were also destroyed. Officials said that since the shops were closed for Diwali, a major tragedy was averted.

Another significant blaze broke out in New Hindan Vihar, where flames spread through slum areas and a scrap warehouse. Four fire tenders were deployed to douse the fire.
Smaller fires were also reported at a factory in Mohan Nagar, a plastic sheeting warehouse in Nandgram, and several residential flats in Rajnagar Extension.
The Fire Department said that out of the 48 incidents, 14 were in residential areas, 15 in rubbish heaps, 7 in shops and 5 in factories. Fire engines had been strategically deployed at 14 key points across Ghaziabad to ensure swift emergency response during the festive period.
