Ghaziabad Traffic Alert: In anticipation of heavy traffic congestion, the Ghaziabad Traffic Police on Friday imposed temporary restrictions on heavy vehicle movement in the city ahead of the upcoming Dhanteras, Diwali, and Bhaiya Dooj festivals. These restrictions will be in place from October 18 and 23 between 8 AM to 10 PM on each day.
Authorities stated that this decision aims to reduce congestion and maintain smooth traffic flow in key arterial areas during the festive season, which usually experiences heavy footfall and increased vehicular traffic.

- These vehicles will be diverted via Atmaram Steel Tiraha and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway.
- Additionally, heavy vehicles coming from Hapur and Delhi via NH-9 will not be allowed to enter Ghaziabad city or proceed towards Bulandshahr.
- The traffic advisory further stated that additional personnel will be deployed in key market areas and along major roads to manage diversions, regulate parking, and ensure the smooth flow of vehicles.
- Authorities have sought cooperation from drivers, transport operators, and commuters during the specified period.
- Officials have urged commuters to take alternative routes and plan their journey accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
This traffic diversion plan comes after Delhi and its surrounding areas experienced severe traffic congestion on Thursday evening. Key routes, including the Outer Ring Road and Ring Road in South Delhi, Mathura Road between Pragati Maidan and Badarpur Border, Aurobindo Marg, Barapullah Elevated Road, the Delhi-Noida Direct (DND) Flyway, and the Delhi-Meerut Expressway leading to Ghaziabad, witnessed heavy traffic congestion.
