Madhya Pradesh: Three student leaders were arrested in Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur district on Wednesday for allegedly secretly filming female students while they were changing clothes during a cultural event at a government college.
The accused were reportedly associated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
The incident occurred on October 14 during an event at Bhanpura Government College in Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur district. According to police, CCTV footage of the incident showed four men sneaking into the changing rooms and secretly capturing videos and photos of female students as they were getting ready. Following the incident, the acting principal filed a complaint with the police.
“During the youth festival, I suspected that someone was taking photos of the girls through the window. Upon checking the CCTV footage, we saw the suspicious activity and immediately filed a complaint. We expect the police to investigate thoroughly and ensure appropriate punishment,” said Dr Preeti Pancholi, Principal-in-Charge of Bhanpura Government College.
The accused have been identified as Umesh Joshi, Ajay Gaud, and Himanshu Bairagi. Soon after the incident, the ABVP immediately removed Umesh Joshi from his City Secretary position.
“The CCTV footage clearly shows four boys peeping through the window. Following this, a case was registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. Three of the accused have been arrested, while the fourth is missing. Mobile phones of the arrested students have been seized for forensic examination,” NDTV quoted Vinod Meena, Mandsaur Superintendent of Police, as saying.

Bhanpura Inspector Ramesh Chandra Dangi stated that although the accused have denied the allegations, they were presented before the court, and their mobile phones have been examined as part of the investigation.
“Although there is no evidence yet that the girls were actually videotaped, we are taking action under applicable laws,” he added.
