A team from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) was allegedly attacked by the director and staff of an offshore casino vessel in Goa during a search operation, police said on Saturday. The assault occurred on Thursday afternoon at Cruise Casino Pride, where ED officials, led by Assistant Director Poluri Chenna Kesava Rao, were conducting a raid as part of a money laundering investigation.

According to the complaint filed at the Panaji police station, the casino staff allegedly assaulted Rao and his team, confined them in a room and threatened to harm them. The complaint named casino director Ashok Wadia, senior staffers Gopal Ramnath Naik and Arati Raja, along with several others, as being involved in the attack.

A spokesperson for the Goa Police told PTI that the accused had threatened to harm the complainant, an assistant director of the ED. Additionally, the ED accused the suspects of destroying evidence collected during the raid.

This incident is the latest in a series of assaults on ED officials. Last month, an ED team was attacked in Delhi’s Bijwasan area during a cyber fraud investigation, leaving an additional director injured. Earlier in January, three ED officers were injured in Sandeshkhali, West Bengal, while raiding the house of a local political figure.
