Jagran Correspondent, Greater Noida: The Surajpur Kotwali police in Greater Noida on Friday arrested four individuals accused of burgling locked houses in the Delhi-NCR. The officials, while providing details, stated that two of the accused got injured in a shootout, adding that the other two were nabbed during a search operation. Apart from the arrests, jewellery worth Rs 52 lakh and Rs 11.27 lakh in cash were also recovered from their possession.

DCP Shailendra Kumar Singh stated that the encounter broke out after the miscreants opened fire at the officials upon being asked to stop their motorcycles for checking near the Moser Baer roundabout. The police asked them to stop after noticing that the motorcycles lacked number plates, adding that the miscreants tried to flee instead of cooperating.

As per the reports, Vakil (alias Rizwan) and Sarfaraz (alias Faiz) got injured during the encounter while the two other miscreants were surrounded and arrested. During the interrogation, Bhole (alias Bhola) revealed that he works as a Rapido worker, adding that he visited various housing societies under the guise of picking up passengers.

Bhola further stated that he passed on the key details, including house number and society name, to the other members to carry out the burglary. The accused also revealed that they operated at late-night hours to mislead the officials and avoid public attention.

The accused confessed that they looted a house in Surajpur's Paramount Society earlier on April 25. While providing details, they stated that they took several expansive items, including one 100-gram gold biscuit, two 50-gram gold biscuits, a gold chain, a necklace, earrings, rings, bangles, a locket, a nose pin, silver anklets, toe rings, and Rs 8.50 lakh in cash.

During the interrogation, the accused also revealed that they conducted similar acts in the nearby regions in the past few months. The prime accused, Vakil, faces over 30 criminal cases across various districts, while Sarfaraz has 17 cases against him; Bhole and Alijan also have multiple cases registered against them.
