In a distressing incident, a man was arrested in Gujarat's Navsari district after being accused of repeatedly raping his 14-year-old daughter and threatening to murder her if she told anybody.
According to his wife's accusation, the accused, who returned to India in 2024 after spending six years in South Africa, raped his daughter on May 9, 10, and 11. Following the assaults, he offered the girl contraceptives and threatened to kill her if she told anybody, making her too afraid to talk, according to India Today.
"He should be hanged," the wife said in her complaint, which she filed after her daughter told her of her ordeal on May 30.
The police filed a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. Police said the man tried to flee but was traced within hours, arrested and sent to jail.
Gujarat Woman Sold By Her Husband
In a separate incident, a man allegedly sold his wife for Rs 50,000 to get rid of her after 12 years of marriage. The police arrested the prime accused and six others, as the woman was reportedly raped and sexually assaulted after being sold.
The officials stated that the matter came to light during the investigation for a missing person complaint filed earlier by her husband, reported the news agency PTI.
Jignesh Gamit, deputy superintendent of police, stated that the accused had approached police on May 11 and claimed that his wife suddenly went missing from Palanpur city. "Within two days of the complaint, the husband himself went missing, following which his father filed another missing person complaint at the Palanpur East police station. However, this sequence of events raised suspicion during the investigation.

The victim stated that she got raped and sexually assaulted during her captivity, adding that her gold ornament was also sold for profit. As per the reports, Patel and other accused, identified as Sanjay Thakor, Ashok Thakor, and Sachin Darbar, had planned the transaction and sold the victim for fifty thousand rupees.
