A birthday party turned into a controversy in Surat, Gujarat, when police raided a hotel and found liquor being consumed. Two people, including a well-known businessman named Sameer Shah, were arrested.

The party was held at KS Avtaar Hotel in Althan to celebrate Shah's birthday. During the celebration, Shah's 19-year-old son and others were found drinking alcohol in a vehicle parked near the hotel.

When police officers arrived at the scene after receiving a tip and attempted to document the alcohol consumption, the teenager exited the vehicle and started behaving aggressively.

The incident was captured on video, which has since gone viral, showing the young man pushing and physically confronting the officers.

According to a report by NDTV, when the police were able to control the teen, his father came out and started threatening police officers as he pacified the boys consuming alcohol. He also reportedly manhandled police personnel and threatened them with ‘connection at the top’.

The report further mentioned that two women arrived after a while and requested the police to let go of the teenager, saying, ‘he is a child’.

Authorities seized a vehicle with an "L" sticker and recovered nine cans of alcohol valued at Rs 1,350, seven mobile phones, and cash.

“Two cases have been filed - one pertaining to the recovery of the alcohol from the vehicle and the other related to the assault on the cops. The man who supplied the liquor has been arrested. Sameer was also arrested after the delivery man said he acted at the behest of the businessman,” Zone 4 Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Nidhi Thakur was quoted as saying in the report.

She added, "Sameer's son did not clear the breath analyser test. His blood and urine samples have been sent for medical examination. He faces the second case related to the assault on the cops. We are trying to see if a notice needs to be sent and if any arrest has to be made."
