Gujarat Weather Forecast: As excessive heat continues to lash major parts of Gujarat, including Ahmedabad, the capital city, is likely to be affected by the potential cyclone in the Arabian Sea. According to the advisory issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there is the possibility of Cyclonic activity in the Arabian Sea, which can result in severe thunderstorms in parts of Gujarat, including Ahmedabad, inthe  coming days. 

Ahmedabad Weather

The capital city is currently grappling with extensive heat and scorching weather, with temperatures crossing 40 degrees Celsius and touching 41 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature in the city is likely to touch 39 degrees Celsius. According to the IMD forecast, the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to range between 41 to 26 degrees Celsius till May 24. 

Gujarat Weather Forecast 

While several areas have already experienced pre-monsoon showers, the pattern is expected to continue till May 23. According to the IMD forecast on Friday, Gujarat is likely to receive an early arrival of the monsoon this year before June 15 in some parts of the state.

As per the Gujarat Samachar report, an upper-air cyclonic circulation over the east-central and northeast Arabian Sea is likely to bring light to moderate rainfall to central and southern Gujarat over the next four days. The affected districts may include:

- Amreli

- Rajkot

- Bhavnagar

- Aravalli

- Mahisagar

- Panchmahal

- Dahod

- Chhota Udepur

- Narmada

- Tapi

- Dang

- Navsari

- Valsad

The early arrival is likely to bring above-normal rainfall to the region. 

Cyclone Shakti In The Arabian Sea

A cyclonic circulation has been detected over the Andaman Sea, which is likely to develop into a low-pressure system between May 16 and 22. This system may further intensify into a cyclone, named Cyclone Shakti, between May 23 and 28.

The state’s weather pattern is likely to be affected by Cyclone Shakti, leading to increased rainfall and thunderstorms.

Coastal regions like Odisha, West Bengal, and Bangladesh (Khulna and Chattogram areas) may experience significant effects from the cyclone.
