Gujarat weather updates: Incessant rains continued to lash several parts of Gujarat on Sunday, resulting in flood-like situation in the affected areas. Nature's fury was on display in Junagadh district as multiple vehicles were swept away by overflowing rivers and some cars got piled on top of each other. The district witnessed extremely heavy rainfall, with 241 mm of precipitation being recorded in the 24-hour period ending at 6 am on Sunday.

Flooding in the state resulted in the closure of two National Highways, 10 state highways, and 300 rural roads on Saturday, PTI reported. Nearly 3,000 residents of Junagadh were reportedly evacuated to safer places. Cranes have been deployed in Junagadh district to remove vehicles swept away and damaged due to flooding in some areas. Dewatering pumps have been pressed into action to remove accumulated water from residential areas.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in Gujarat in the next 24 hours. It has been informed that the state would witness more than 20 cm of rainfall and it may continue at isolated places.

State meteorological director Jayanta Sarkar said, "Heavy rainfall warning has been issued for Valsad, Navsari, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli today. In Saurashtra and Kutch, we are expecting light rainfall at isolated places for the next five days whereas only light rainfall is expected at Ahmedabad."

He added, "There's one cyclonic circulation over south Gujarat, persisting there for last 2-3 days, giving a lot of rainfall in south Gujarat region mainly in Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Valsad and Navsari. We are expecting fairly widespread rainfall in south Gujarat."
