A romantic dinner plan by a young couple to celebrate their love on February 15 ended in the brutal killing of a Bank employee by her husband after he slit her throat. The accused husband brutally killed his wife in Haryana’s Bahadurgarh after spending an evening with his wife, celebrating the day with a beautiful dinner, and tried to mislead the investigative officer with a false story about robbery.

The Jhajjar police were able to solve the case of Mahak’s murder within 18 hours. The case, which first appeared as a matter of robbery, later unfolded to be a cold-blooded plan by the victim’s husband, Anshul Dhawan, who works as a Chartered Accountant in Gurugram.

The accused husband called the police around 11:00 pm on Sunday, informing the police that unknown attackers had tried to rob them and killed his wife by slitting her throat.

But there was a catch, which was the gaps in Anshul’s statement. When the police began the investigation and demanded detailed information about the incident, they noticed that Anshul kept changing stories and was not able to describe the robbers properly, which led to suspicion against the husband.

Why Anshul Killed His Wife

When the police strictly questioned Anshul, he confessed to killing his wife. Revealing the reason behind taking the extreme step, Anshul revealed that he had long been suspicious of his wife, Mahak’s character, who worked at HDFC Bank. Anshul’s questions about his wife’s character often led to arguments between them.

Mahak's father, Krishna Kathuria, had suspected his son-in-law from the very beginning.

Anshul used gloves to kill his wife; he first strangled her, then used scissors to slit her throat. Both Anshul, a resident of Hisar, and Mahak, from Hansi, had married on September 25 last year.
