Gurugram, home to over 19 unicorns, IT firms, BPOs, and other businesses, will soon get 27 new metro stations as part of a major expansion project. The new line is expected to ease road congestion, cut traffic jams, and provide faster travel for around 25 lakh residents.

On September 5, Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini laid the foundation stone for the Gurugram Metro extension project. The 28.5 km corridor will link Old Gurugram with New Gurugram, featuring 27 stations along the route. This extension aims to enhance connectivity between key business hubs, reduce traffic, and ensure a smoother commute for residents in the city’s older sectors.

Khattar said metro extension plans, Rejangla Chowk to Dwarka Sector-21, Sector-56 to Pachgaon, and the Namo Metro Corridor between Delhi-Karnal, Delhi-Neemrana, and Gurugram-Noida via Faridabad will improve connectivity between Gurugram and Delhi and the entire National Capital Region.

About Gurugram Metro Expansion Project

A 28.5 km metro corridor will be developed from Millennium City Centre to Dwarka Expressway via Cyber City, at an estimated cost of nearly Rs 5,500 crore. The project is slated for completion in four years, with key stations at Subhash Chowk, Hero Honda Chowk, Udyog Vihar, and Palam Vihar.

According to Gurugram Metro Rail Limited, the new line will not only improve connectivity across the NCR but also help curb pollution and create job opportunities. Additionally, a 1.85 km stretch from Dwarka Expressway to Basai Village will be built, expected to cater to 7.5 lakh passengers annually within Gurugram.

List Of Stations 

The upcoming Gurugram Metro extension will feature 27 new stations, starting from HUDA City Centre and covering key points such as Sector 45, Sector 47, Cyber Park, Sector 48, Subhash Chowk, Sector 72A, Hero Honda Chowk, Udyog Vihar Phase 6, Sector 37, Sector 10, Basai Village, Sector 7, Sector 9, Sector 4, Sector 5, Ashok Vihar, Sector 3, Bajghera Road, Palam Vihar, Palam Vihar Extension, Sector 22, Sector 23A, Udyog Vihar Phase 4, Udyog Vihar Phase 5, Cyber City, and Dwarka Expressway Sector 101.

The planned stations include key nodes such as Millennium City Centre, Cyber Park, Hero Honda Chowk, Udyog Vihar, Palam Vihar, Ashok Vihar, Subhash Chowk, and Basai Village. 

Current Metro Status In Gurugram

1. At present, Gurugram’s metro network consists of just two lines, a 7 km stretch of Delhi Metro’s Yellow Line and a 12.85 km Rapid Metro corridor.

2. The city’s metro services are currently limited to two routes: a 7 km portion of the Delhi Metro Yellow Line and the 12.85 km Rapid Metro.
