Gurugram Metro Phase 1: In a major boost to urban connectivity, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Union Urban Development Minister Manohar Lal Khattar laid the foundation stone of the much-awaited first phase of the Gurugram metro project. The first phase of the Gurugram metro is expected to reduce congestion and boost connectivity across NCR.
Speaking at a gathering in Gurugram University auditorium, Saini said, “The metro rail project will reduce congestion and pollution in the city. This is a historic day, and this project will transform the transport infrastructure of Gurugram and boost connectivity across NCR.”
Gurugram Metro Phase 1: Check Length, Stations And Other Details
- The first phase of the Gurugram metro project will include the construction of 15.22 km of elevated metro rail viaduct featuring 15 stations, a 1.85 km spur connecting to the Dwarka Expressway and a ramp leading to the proposed depot in Sector 33.

- Khattar said that Gurugram Metro Phase 1, whose foundation stone was laid today, will span 28.5 km in length and is expected to cost approximately Rs 5,600 crore.
- Once the Gurugram Metro Phase 1 is operational, it will spur rapid development in Gurugram, Manesar and Faridabad.
- The 15 metro stations planned for Gurugram Metro Phase 1 include:

Recalling the launch of India’s first metro by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 2002 in Delhi, Khattar said, “Today, the metro has expanded to 1,066 kilometres in 24 cities across the country.” He also announced that the Union government has decided to give 10,000 buses at concessional rates to states across the country. Of these, 450 buses will be allotted to Haryana, and 100 buses will be specifically designed for Gurugram.
