Gurugram Metro Update: The Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) officials on Monday stated that the construction of Phase 1 of the Gurugram Metro is likely to begin by the end of this month. While providing details, the officials stated that a joint venture of Dilip Buildcon Ltd and Ranjit Buildcon Ltd (DBL-RBL) has emerged as the lowest bidder for the project, reported the Hindustan Times. The authority had clarified that the construction of the metro line between Millennium City Centre and Sector 9 will begin on a priority basis. The GMRL emphasised that the project will provide convenience to thousands of residents by significantly cutting the travel time and reducing traffic congestion.

While providing details, the officials stated that negotiations with the company will be held in the next 10 days. They further stated that a total of six companies, including L&T, GR Infra, Afcons, J Kumar, and KLPT, had bid for the ambitious project worth Rs 1,503 crore. Earlier last month, the authority had stated that the project is likely to be finished in 30 months.

“The joint venture of Dilip Buildcon and Ranjit Buildcon has emerged as the lowest bidder for the construction of first phase of Gurugram metro from Millennium City centre to Sector 9. Six companies had qualified for the financial bid, which were evaluated by GMRL. The negotiations with the lowest bidder will be held in next seven to 10 days after which work will be awarded. We expect the contractor to mobilise the site by the end of this month as construction of Gurugram Metro project is on high priority,” a senior GMRL official was quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times.

The GMRL had stated that the metro project will extend the metro line from Huda City Centre to Cyber Hub, covering a total distance of 28.5 kilometers and will have 27 elevated metro stations. The metro line will significantly improve the regional connectivity, providing relief to the residents.
