Gurugram Traffic News: The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) are jointly going to conduct a feasibility study to reduce the woes of traffic jams and waterlogging at major locations in the city, including Rajiv Chowk and Shankar Chowk.
The National Highways Authority of India chairman, Santosh Kumar Yadav, and the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority chief executive officer, Shyamal Mishra, jointly conducted a meeting to discuss the roadmap. The meeting took place at the NHAI headquarters in Dwarka on June 18.
The authorities on Wednesday stated that the feasibility work will be conducted at these two places, as well as the service road along with the Ambience Mall. The feasibility study will help determine new or alternative routes, develop new infrastructure and identify corrective points to ensure smooth traffic movement and increase safety on these roads.
Preparation for Monsoon in Gurugram:
Gurugram is soon going to witness the onset of monsoon. With the arrival of monsoon, several areas are expected to see waterlogging and traffic disruptions. The GMDA and NHAI collectively identified major places where waterlogging is likely and decided to take flood control measures at major hotspots. These major hotspots are: IFFCO Chowk, Medanta underpass, Rajiv Chowk and Hero Honda Chowk to Umang Bhardwaj and other places.
The NHAI said that the team will clean the three culverts of Narsinghpur on priority to facilitate quick drainage of rainwater through the temporary drain constructed by the GMDA. Earlier, a temporary drain was built in Narsinghpur to carry rainwater towards the Leg Three Badshahpur drain.
