The likelihood of getting the 100-bed block near Civil Hospital next year has increased. The Public Works Department (PWD) has opened tenders for the fifth floor, and the contract is expected to be awarded within 15 days. Construction work will commence within a month after the tender is finalised. Currently, about 80% of the work has been completed up to the fourth floor.

The hospital receives over 2,500 visitors daily at the OPD, with more than 200 admissions. In addition, there is a large influx of patients seeking emergency care and undergoing various tests. Due to a shortage of beds, patients often face difficulties. To address these issues, approval was granted by the Directorate in 2018 for the construction of a 100-bed additional building. The project was expected to be completed by January 2024 at a cost of Rs 90 crore.

60% Of The Work Completed

The goal of this expansion was to alleviate the hospital's workload and improve patient convenience. In November 2019, Rs 47 crore was allocated for the construction, and approximately 60% of the work has been completed. However, the remaining Rs 43 crore required for completion has not yet been provided as of 2024.

A plan was developed for a 32-bed ICU and centralised air conditioning on the fifth floor of the under-construction block. A proposal for Rs 35 crore for the centralised air conditioning and Rs 12 crore for the ICU ward was submitted. However, this amount was later increased by an additional Rs 4 crore. As a result, the files were forwarded multiple times to the government requesting Rs 47 crore instead of the initially estimated Rs 43 crore.

This five-story building will include a dedicated floor for ICU patients, providing critical care for individuals with severe high blood pressure, serious infections, and accident victims. This will allow for real-time monitoring and treatment of patients directly at the district hospital. The procurement of medical equipment for patient examinations will begin once the building is completed.
