Gurugram Weather: Gurugram, on early Friday morning, received heavy and incessant rainfall accompanied by storms, causing waterlogging in several areas. This also affected traffic movement as roads were inundated. Due to heavy downpour, a section of the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) caved in, after which the traffic police put barricades to avoid any untoward incident, as per a report by Hindustan.
The reports suggest that the road had caved in twice earlier, too. The waterlogging was reported on the service lane of the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway near Narsinghpur, which caused traffic snarls. Moreover, some other sections of the highway also saw waterlogging, which primarily affected vehicles heading towards Delhi.
The service lane of the Sohna Elevated Road also witnessed waterlogging. Due to this, the vehicular movement slowed and caused a traffic jam at Subhash Chowk. Due to traffic snarls, commuters found it hard to reach the office.
Along with these areas, over 50 areas in the city, including NH 48, Golf Course Road, Sector 9, 9A, 10, 15, Dayanand Colony, and Bhim Nagar, among others, were inundated.
Heavy Rain Lashes Delhi-NCR
The storm and rainfall not only lashed Gurugram but the entire Delhi-NCR. The strong surface winds uprooted trees at various places. In one such incident, four members of a family, including a woman and her three children, died in Delhi's Dwarka. Her husband was also injured after a tree fell on their house.
The inclement weather conditions brought the entire region to still and flight operations were also affected for a couple of hours. As per the news agency ANI, three flights were diverted to Jaipur and Ahmedabad while several others were delayed initially.
However, the Delhi Airport, after some time, said that the operations were brought back to normal.
