A 90-year-old man was killed on Friday in Madhya Pradeshโs Gwalior after a dump truck carrying gravel overturned on him while he was sitting outside his house basking in the winter sun. The entire incident was captured on CCTV.
The victim, identified as Girraj Sharma, lived with his grandson Satish Sharma. According to locals, the truck had entered the area for construction work at a nearby house. CCTV footage shows the vehicle moving forward when one of its tyres got stuck in a pothole, causing it to lose balance and topple over. As the truck tilted, the elderly man tried to stand up, but before he could move to safety, the gravel spilled onto him. He died on the spot after being crushed under the heavy load.
As per an NDTV report, the driver fled the scene following the accident. Residents immediately alerted the police, and a team from Bahodapur police station reached the spot, recovered the body from under the overturned vehicle, and began further investigation. Family members also arrived soon after.
Additional Superintendent of Police Jayraj Kuber said the accident occurred due to unstable ground conditions. "A water pipeline had been laid in the area a few days ago, which made the soil wet. This caused the dump truck to lose balance and overturn. The elderly man was crushed under the vehicle and died," he said.
The body has been sent for a post-mortem, and the dump truck involved in the incident has been seized. Police said efforts are underway to trace the driver and fix accountability. The incident has once again raised concerns about road safety and construction activity in residential areas, especially the dangers faced by elderly residents.

In a separate incident, a tragic CCTV-captured incident has once again highlighted public apathy in Bengaluru, where a 34-year-old man suffering a heart attack died on the road as passersby failed to help. The incident occurred near Kaderanahalli while Venkataramana was being taken to Jayadeva Hospital on a two-wheeler by his wife, Roopa, after his condition worsened.
According to the family, he developed severe chest pain in the early hours and was taken to multiple hospitals, but no ambulance or emergency treatment was provided. While travelling, he collapsed after their bike met with an accident, and CCTV footage shows Roopa pleading for help for nearly 15 minutes as vehicles passed by.
He was later taken to a hospital by a cab driver but was declared dead. Despite the loss, the family donated his eyes, with Roopa urging people to show compassion during emergencies.
