Police station to come up at violence site

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, on Monday, announced the construction of a police station on the encroached land where riots took place.

"...The illegal encroachment in Banbhoolpura has been cleared. The 'Bageecha' (Malik's garden) has been cleared and acres of land have been freed," the CM said.

On February 8, in Banbhoolpura, residents clashed with the administration and police attempting to demolish a madrasa and prayer area on government land. Subsequently, a curfew was enforced, which has now been lifted in most areas except the sensitive Banbhulpura. Although the main market resumed activity on Monday, it was relatively subdued.
