The debate regarding the dilapidated roads in Bengaluru is not new and has been going for the past few weeks. Leaders of several big IT firms, situated in Bengaluru, have also raised the concerns over the poor road infrastructure, urging the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government to improve the conditions, which, as per them, is hurting Bengaluru’s status as an IT hub.
Amid the debates, the Individual Tax Payers Forum (comprising income tax payers of the city) has again highlighted the dilapidated conditions of the road and has threatened to boycott income tax payments if the poor road conditions do not improve.
In a letter to CM Siddaramaiah, the Individual Tax Payers Forum flagged "half measured, unscientific, and poorly co-ordinated road white-topping" undertaken by the civic authorities in the recent past.

"In last few decades, the recognition is getting changed and we being the citizens and residents of Bengaluru, don't want to hear our City as Garbage City, Pothole City, Traffic Jam City, No Footpath city, Poor Public Infrastructure, etc," it added.
DK Shivakumar Reacts
Reacting to the letter, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister, DK Shivakumar, assured the citizens that the government has undertaken a swift and focused approach to solve the road problems.
“Yes, challenges exist, but we’re addressing them with focus and urgency. Rs 1,100 crore has been sanctioned for road repairs, 10000+ potholes identified, and over 5000+ already fixed on priority. Major infrastructure works are underway to make Bengaluru more globally competitive,” Shivakumar wrote on his X handle.
