Haryana: Fake Delivery Boy Snatches Woman's Gold Chain Inside House Over 'Wrong Parcel' In Panchkula; Case Filed

A woman was robbed in Amravati Enclave, Pinjore, in Haryana’s Panchkula district when a thief broke into her house and snatched her gold chain by posing as a delivery boy. A complaint has been filed, and an investigation has been launched. Nearby CCTV footage captured the incident.

The accused told the woman that a wrong parcel had been delivered to her address. When she denied placing any order, he pretended to leave. As the woman followed him to shut the gate, he suddenly snatched the gold chain from her neck and fled on a motorcycle, where an accomplice was waiting outside.

According to Jagran.com the complaint filed by Sumitra, she is originally from Jind’s Urban Estate area and has been living in a rented house in Amravati Enclave for the past six years. Her son studies at AIIMS Delhi, while her daughter came home on January 26.

Sumitra stated that around 5 pm on January 26, while she was working at home, a young man wearing a cap and with his face covered arrived at her door, claiming to be a Zomato delivery agent. He told her that a wrong order had been delivered, but she said she had not ordered anything.

When she accompanied him to the door, the youth suddenly snatched her gold chain and ran down the stairs. She chased him to the gate, where another youth was waiting on a motorcycle, and both fled the spot.

Investigating officer Baroo Singh said CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined and assured that the accused will be identified and arrested soon.
