Haryana Roadways passengers will soon be able to track the real-time location of the buses on their mobile phones, similar to the tracking system of railways. Once the feature is rolled out, the passengers will not have to wait at the bus stops/stands and guess the location of buses. Earlier, passengers had to wait at the stop for the buses.

The data of the buses is being fed into the Passenger Information System (PIS) at Rewari Depot, and the service will be rolled out as soon as possible. “The work of feeding the data of buses on the portal is going on. A trial will be conducted by the headquarters for real-time location. After that, this process will start regularly,” said Pradeep Kumar, General Manager, Roadways.

The trial will be held in two phases. In the first phase, the trial will take place for 10 buses. The PIS will enable tracking the real-time movement of those buses. In the second phase of the system, other buses will also be connected to it.

The PIS system will follow the pattern of railways. A control system has been created at the roadways headquarters through which every movement of the ten buses of the first trial will be monitored, Jagran.com reported. Apart from the control system, the local officials will also keep an eye.

After the data is fed into the system, the passengers will get all the information about the buses, such as the real-time location, stoppages and timings. The passengers will need to download the app to check the status.

The new buses that have come to the depot have been fitted with GPS. The roadways will smoothly connect it with PIS if the GPS is properly functional. If the GPS is not functional, a new GPS will be installed, or the old GPS will be repaired.
