The Goa government on Tuesday issued a heatwave advisory as the weather department predicted extreme heat conditions in the state till April 8. "Extreme Heat/Heatwave Advisory by Directorate of Health Services, Goa. If you are experiencing heatwave symptoms, please seek immediate assistance at the nearest health centre or district hospital," the government said.

Vishwajit Rane, the State Minister of Health, shared the advisory on social media. The government has urged citizens to take precautions when going outside during the day and to drink enough water to prevent dehydration.

"Although anyone at any time can suffer from the heat stress, some people are at greater risk than others and should be given additional attention," the advisory stated.

The IMD reported that Goa experienced dry weather on Tuesday, with Panaji recording the highest maximum temperature of 33.6 degrees Celsius. The central and western peninsulas of India are expected to be most affected by the intense heat that is predicted to occur between April and June.

 The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday forecasted heatwave conditions in isolated pockets of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Maharashtra and Jharkhand till April 6. The weather department also predicted Madhya Pradesh and Odisha to experience warm nights for the rest of the week.

The states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Odisha, and Puducherry will be facing hot and humid weather conditions till April 6. The most prone areas to an increased heatwave are Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and North Karnataka followed by Rajashtan MP and north Chattishfardh Oddisha Andra Pradesh.

The maximum temperature during February and March was normal to below normal.
