Luckily, the woman survived after she fell into dense bushes. Police arrested all three accused within just 30 minutes of the incident.
The prime accused has been identified as 28-year-old Dalip Kumar, a resident of Siswara village in Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich district, who allegedly conspired with his younger brother and a friend to kill his wife. According to police, he lured her to Solan, Himachal Pradesh, on the pretext of a scenic mountain trip before carrying out the planned attack.
A premeditated murder plot
Police said Dalip allegedly hatched the murder conspiracy with the help of his brother, Shivam, and friend, Madan Kumar. After reaching a secluded spot near Deunghat, the trio allegedly attacked the woman with a knife, slit her throat, and pushed her into an 80-to-100-metre-deep gorge, believing she would not survive.
However, the woman's fall was broken by thick bushes, allowing her to escape certain death. Despite suffering critical injuries, she managed to crawl out of the gorge and reach the roadside, where passers-by spotted her and rushed her to a nearby hospital.
According to police, the Saproon police post received information on Saturday that a woman had been thrown into a deep gorge from the roadside. Acting swiftly, teams from the Saproon police post and Sadar Solan police station, led by the station house officer, rushed to the spot and launched an immediate investigation.
The victim was initially admitted to the Civil Hospital in Solan but was later referred to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla, due to the severity of her injuries.
