Amid ongoing row over actor-politician Kangana Ranaut’s remarks on the farmers’ protest, the Himachal Pradesh Assembly has adopted a Congress-backed resolution to condemn her comments. The opposition has intensified its attack on the BJP after the Mandi MP posted a clip of her interview with Hindi daily Dainik Bhaskar in which she said that a ‘Bangladesh-like situation’ could have erupted in the country during the farmers’ protests but for the country’s strong leadership. She also alleged the involvement of the US and China in the ‘conspiracy’.

Kangana Ranaut’s remarks sparked heated exchanges in the Himachal Assembly as the House adopted a resolution, condemning her remarks. Thousands of farmers from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and other regions staged a prolonged protest at the borders of Delhi, demanding the repeal of the controversial farm laws, which have since been revoked.

Oppn Leaders Condemn Kangana’s Remarks

Several opposition leaders denounced Kangana’s remarks. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday said that the words were ‘deliberate’ and will be used as a ‘shield’ so that the top leadership of the BJP is not blamed for its defeat in the forthcoming Haryana Assembly polls.’

"This is the BJP's script, which is being read out by an actress as dialogue on the instructions of a top director. When an ordinary politician understands that using abusive language about the farmers' movement in a farmers' state will harm their prospects, the BJP's Chanakya does not understand this?" Yadav said in a post on X.

Ahead of the Haryana Assembly Election on October 1, AAP's Haryana president Sushil Gupta said that this highlighted BJP's “mindset” towards farmers. The party held several protests in Haryana as well.
