Jagran Team, Shimla: Amid the active monsoon in Himachal Pradesh, Shimla, Kangra, Mandi, Kullu and Chamba, among other places, received rainfall till Tuesday evening. In Mandi district, the Jalandhar-Mandi-Attari National Highway via Dharampur-Kotli was blocked by landslides at three locations. Stones hit several locations on the Manali-Kiratpur four-lane, while rocks and debris continued to fall between Bijni and Narla on the Pathankot-Mandi National Highway.
Due to the Beas River overflowing, an additional 9,000 cusecs of water was released from the Pandoh Dam on Monday night and Tuesday morning. Residents of Kunduni Panchayat in the Jogindernagar subdivision met with Tehsildar Rajat Sethi and demanded a solution to the problem of the artificial lake on the hill.
In Kullu, torrential rain from morning to afternoon and landslides at various locations have significantly raised the water levels of the Beas and Parvati rivers. In Lahaul-Spiti, the Tandi-Sansari road remained closed for a second day due to flooding in the Jahlma and Kadu drains. On Tuesday, the BRO laid iron plates to help people cross the drains.
The Shimla-Kinnaur National Highway, which was closed due to flooding near Shalkhar in Kinnaur district, was reopened to traffic on Tuesday after nearly 20 hours. The road from Chuwari to Nurpur in Chamba district was closed due to a landslide at Tikkar Ghar.

Roads Blocked For 12 hHours
The only option left for travelling from Chuwari to Nurpur is the Chuwari via Kakira-Dunera route. A massive landslide occurred near Durgathi and Batti Ki Hatti on the Chamba-Bharmaur National Highway. The road, which was disrupted around 8 am on Tuesday, was restored around 4:30 pm.
The Chamba-Tisa road remained closed near Pangola Nala and Kandla. Around 8 am, a private bus travelling from Tisa to Chamba became stuck in debris near Kandla. The bus was removed using machinery.
145 Roads Closed
Efforts are underway to reopen 145 blocked roads in the state. Work is underway to repair 508 disrupted DTRs. 43 drinking water schemes have also been affected.
