Delhi Tourist And Woman Injured While Trekking To Barshaini
On Saturday morning, a tourist from Delhi slipped and fell while navigating one of these steep trails. He sustained injuries to his legs and body, while a woman accompanying him was also hurt. Both are being treated at a local hospital.
Earlier, a Thursday night landslide struck a vehicle on the same route. The driver, Shambhu Ram, managed to escape unharmed, though his jeep (registration number HP 34 B 6415) was buried under the debris and has not yet been recovered.
Bhuntar–Manikaran Road Also Hit By Repeated Blockages
The continuous landslides have caused major inconvenience to residents of Manikaran Valley and the Bhuntar–Manikaran road connecting the region has also faced frequent blockages near Sarsari. After a recent landslide in Ghatigarh, traffic movement has been completely halted.
Local villagers have urged the government to conduct a geological survey of the area, warning that the unstable slopes could trigger a major disaster.
B.C. Negi, Executive Engineer of the PWD Kullu division, said that teams are working round the clock to clear the debris and restore traffic. However, frequent landslides continue to hamper operations, making the situation highly unstable and risky for commuters.
