During the climb, Rohit paid homage to 29 mountaineers who tragically lost their lives in an avalanche in Draupadi Ka Danda 2, Uttarkashi, on October 4, 2022. Rohit himself survived the deadly avalanche, which involved 41 members from the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, including trainees and instructors.

After a period of rest and recovery, Rohit resumed training and had previously conquered Mount Elbrus, Europe’s tallest peak, where he unfurled a 101-foot-long Indian flag. He also set a world record by scaling Tanzania’s Mount Kilimanjaro in just over 16 hours. Rohit was accompanied by two others, including a Sherpa, on this challenging Everest ascent, joining many Indian climbers who have achieved this feat.
