Himachal Weather: According to India Meteorological Department's (IMD) forecast, heavy rains will continue in Himachal Pradesh till August 20. There is a possibility of heavy rain at some places in Kangra, Mandi, Shimla and Sirmaur on August 17 and in Kangra and Sirmaur on August 18.

313 Roads Closed In Himachal

313 roads including two National Highways (NH) are closed in the state. NH-5 in Kinnaur and NH-305 in Kullu are closed. 348 transformers are out of order in the state. 161 mm rainfall was recorded in Shri Nainadevi Ji, 101 mm in Palampur, 72 mm in Pandoh and 62 mm in Mandi.

A loss of Rs 2,144 crore has been assessed in the state since June 20. So far, 136 people have died due to cloudburst, landslides and other reasons. So far, there have been 34 incidents of cloudburst, 74 of floods and 61 of landslides in the state.

Damage In Shimla

There has been a lot of damage in Sunni of Shimla district. The bridge connecting Sunni to Thali of Mandi district got damaged due to waterlogging. Due to this, Thali, Shakra, Jeharvin and the adjoining villages have lost contact with Sunni and many nearby villages. Chaba Power House has also been submerged.

On Friday, due to the rising water level of Sutlej, many low-lying areas of Sunni were submerged. Most parts of the road on the Tattapani-Sunni route have been damaged. On Saturday, there was a slight decrease in the water level of the Sutlej river.

The administration has stopped movement on the bridge for safety reasons. The sewerage treatment plant, ITI building, Kali Mata Mandir, Forest Rest House, Gausadan located in Sunni and the residential area in the lower part of Sunni have been affected due to waterlogging.

Several acres of land have been washed away due to the flow of Beas in Mand Bhogravan village of Mand area. Paddy crops of hundreds of farmers have been washed away in wards 9 and 10 of Riyāli Panchayat. The administration has shifted 23 families to relief camps. The tower of the 132 KV transmission line of the Electricity Board fell down at Nau Mile of Mandi on the Kiratpur-Manali four lane.
