Himachal Weather: Many areas of Himachal Pradesh were under a heat wave alert on Monday. The Met warning was issued when temperatures in Una reached above 41°C on Monday, with both minimum and maximum temperatures skyrocketing. The heat wave is expected to last till April 30 in Una, Kullu, and Mandi, according to the Meteorological Centre in Shimla.

The Met has forecast a shift in the weather for May 1 and 2, indicating that most of the state will likely see thunderstorms with lightning. On these two days, the meteorological service has also forecast severe winds in certain areas of the state.

On Monday, Una reached the highest recorded temperature of 41.6°C. The following locations also had high temperatures: Chamba 32.5°C, Dharamshala 32°C, Bilaspur 36°C, Mandi 35.6°C, Bhuntar and Nahan 34.5°C each, Sundernagar 36.2°C, and Kangra 36.6°C. Manali's highest temperature was 28.5°C, while Shimla's was 26.8°C. Kasauli was warm, reaching a high of 28.6°C.

The lowest recorded maximum temperature on Monday was 16.9°C at Keylong, Lahaul Spiti.

The minimum temperature has also been progressively rising across the state. Keylong had the lowest minimum temperature of 3.3°C on Monday.

The weather department has issued an advisory urging people to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the ongoing heat wave and to avoid going outdoors during peak heat hours. Travelers heading to higher altitudes are advised to exercise caution due to the possibility of snowfall and rainfall.
